Sales email subject lines

"Sales email" means two different things. In B2B, it's a rep emailing a prospect. In ecommerce, it's a promotion or sale announcement to customers. The subject lines that work are very different, so they're split into two lists below.

    B2B vs promo subject lines

B2B prospecting subjects should look personal and quiet: short, specific, no exclamation marks. Promo subjects can be louder because the customer already knows your brand, but urgency only works when it's real. Don't say "last chance" if the sale runs for another week.

    Frequently asked questions

What is a good subject line for a sales email?

For B2B, short and personal: "Idea for [Company]" or "Quick question, [Name]". For a promotion, lead with the offer and the deadline: "25% off ends tonight".

Do numbers help sales subject lines?

Often, yes. Specific numbers ("Cut reporting time by 40%") are more believable than vague claims.
